Axtel Networks, the evolution towards the Fiber Infrastructure market
At the beginning of 2019, Axtel decided to separate its operations into two business units: a value-added service provider unit, which would continue to provide integrated and managed ICT solutions for the business and government segments (under the Alestra brand), and an infrastructure-based business unit (Axtel Networks), which would be the owner of the majority of the assets and would provide connectivity, internet, and infrastructure services to wholesale clients and operators in Mexico.
The main objective of this separation is to create a specialization and value proposition focused on the infrastructure and fiber connectivity needs of mobile and fixed operators, data center operators, and large providers of cloud and content services. Likewise, to become the leading neutral provider of fiber optic infrastructure solutions in the country.
As of the fourth quarter of 2019, Axtel began operating under the model of two business units and launched a new value proposition based on a portfolio of solutions focused on specific needs such as Fiber to the Tower, Connectivity in Data Centers, Fiber to the Business (Wholesale Access), Long-Haul Transport among others. Likewise, it launched the identity and brand for this new infrastructure business unit: Axtel Networks.
